New farming techniques to help mitigate the effects of Climate Change

Training in modern farming methods is essential if Nepali farmers are going to successfully combat the detrimental effects of Climate Change and the younger farmers definitely know this and are keen to learn. Fortunately for the farmers of Jaleshwari, the AgroForest Resource Centre is only a days' walk away at Deusa. This centre, set up by The Glacier Trust in conjunction with EcoHimalNepal, that offers 'agriculture expertise and training to subsistence farmers enabling them to improve their farming methods and, where possible, grow crops and produce for sale in local markets.'
In June 2019, NRVT paid for a group of farmers from Jaleshwari to visit the AFRC at Deusa where they benefited from the comprehensive three-day training on offer. We plan to extend the training to other groups in the future.
